Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is the immigration program of Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province. It allows the province to nominate individuals who have the desired skills and experience to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

The PEI PNP offers several streams and categories to cater to the different needs and qualifications of prospective immigrants. These streams include:

  1. Express Entry Stream: This stream is aligned with the federal Express Entry system, which manages applications for three economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for one of these federal programs and have a genuine job offer from an employer in PEI can apply through this stream.
  2. Labour Impact Category: This category is divided into three streams:
  • Skilled Worker Stream: Designed for individuals who have a job offer from a PEI employer in a skilled occupation and meet the requirements for work experience, education, language proficiency, and intention to settle in PEI.
  • Critical Worker Stream: Targets individuals who have a job offer from a PEI employer in a semi-skilled or unskilled occupation that is in high demand in the province. They must have at least six months of work experience with the employer and meet other eligibility criteria.
  • International Graduate Stream: Intended for recent graduates from recognized PEI post-secondary institutions. They must have a job or job offer from a PEI employer in their field of study and meet other requirements.
  1. Business Impact Category: This category is for individuals who wish to start or invest in a business in PEI. It includes two streams:
  • Work Permit Stream: Designed for individuals who want to own and operate a business in PEI actively. They must obtain a valid work permit and work in the business for a minimum period before being nominated for permanent residence.
  • Entrepreneur Stream: For individuals who plan to start or purchase a business in PEI and actively manage it. They must meet net worth, investment, business experience, and other requirements.

To apply to the PEI PNP, candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and be invited to apply by the province. If nominated, they can then apply for permanent residence with the Government of Canada.

It’s important to note that the specific requirements and processes may change over time, so it’s advisable to visit the official website of the PEI PNP for the most up-to-date information.
